With reference to my despatch No.41 of 8th
July enclosing a report on the recent outbreak of
the Plague in these parts, I have the honour to
inform you that the disease had ceased to be api-
demic here by the end of July when the people ap-
peared no longer to trouble themselves about it.
During the present month there have been sporadic
CaseB but yesterday in reply to enquiries at the

Plague Hospital in this city, I was informed that
in neither of them had there been a single case of
plague for several days, and that the large matshed
hospital that had been erected to the west of the
city especially for plague patients was in course
of removal.
Further the Superintendent Physician of the
American Missionary Hospital here wrote to me yes-
