Sir:-
(Rec 28 AUC 94)
I am now able to reply to M. de Staal's Note of
the 24th ultimo suggesting the adoption of Interna- tional measures to prevent the spread of the plague
which has broken out in China.
Her Majesty's Government are of opinion that, from the medical point of view, the danger to this Country from Plague 18 remote, and that it does not appear necessary, in order to guard the country from Plague to add to the protective measures already available under existing Statutes and Orders relat-
ing to other infectious diseases.
Her Majesty's Government will however have great pleasure in considering most carefully any proposals which the Imperial Government may bring forward.
I have do
(Signed)
Kimberley.
