I have already informed Your Lordship that I shall be glad if it is possible to induce the Treasury & War Office to meet the views of the Unofficials. At any rate, I trust that some relief may be granted to the Colony as has been done in the case of the Straits Settlements.

13. In the estimates of expenditure under the head of "Miscellaneous receipts" a sum of $80,000 has been included on account of exchange compensation. The Unofficial Members, as will be seen from the enclosed copy of the proceedings in Council of the 28th of November, voted unanimously for this item.
