We cannot accept this representation of the view of the financial position, until we receive the Estimates & examine them carefully to see whether they have been painted unreasonably optimistic. We must wait also for reply to despatch 17602.
But in view of this despatch, must we not now write to Treasury with reference to 13087, saying that we agree to £40,000 Contribution for next year 1894-8, so inform Governor.
