In reply to your letter No. 2005 of 11th instant concerning the provisional engagement of an additional staff for the purpose of making a general inspection of house drains- I have to inform you that the Sanitary Board is advised by its surveyor that the following would be a suitable scale of remuneration for such staff:-
Assistant Surveyor $200-$250 per month
Overseer, $80-$100 per month
Foreman, $30 per month
Coolie, $20 per month
I am to add that the Board is of opinion that the periods of engagement should be for 4 months for the actual purpose of inspection and for a further period of 2 months for the purpose of supervising re-drainage work which will be rendered necessary as a result of the sole inspection.
