M. Fairfield
The post of Treasurer was created in 1890, and M. Mitchell was appointed to it with a salary of $4800 [see despatch No. 17272/90]. On 8869/93 the question of his fitness for the post was raised, & in despatch on 16733/93 it was decided that he was to be left in the post for one year longer, on condition that his continuance therein would depend on the nature of a report to be furnished about the manner in which he conducted & assisted in the work of his Dept.
