16th Weekly Press, which describes

the action taken between 10th May $389 (when it became first officially known) and the 15th May.

Much Energy seems to have been displayed by the officials of the Sanitary Board, but it seems very remarkable that it took five or six days for the Medical & Sanitary officers to become officially aware of the existence of the plague some weeks after it started.

The plague appears to have been raging in Canton previous to its outbreak in Hongkong, but whether it was carried from Canton to Hongkong, or originated in Hongkong is not clear from the newspaper reports.

We can do nothing at present.
