Chinese views and sentiments it seems unreasonable to grant them a privilege which is withheld from the other businesses, who for almost the whole population who contribute by far the largest proportion of the revenue, in the Hong Kong territory have the largest interest of any nationality in the Colony.

If the right of selection is to be granted to any one community, the whole Anglo-Chinese community, who are British subjects, now have a vote of thanks to the Government.

Particular attention is drawn to the views of the other petitioners who regard it as certain that they are treated unfairly and are ready to figure as legal petitioners to share with big business partners.

One of his duties for which he is paid is to take into consideration the views of the minority, in ignorance of Chinese matters.

Petitioners regard it as unfair that they are not granted the right to vote.
