who with their usual ignorance and superstition have objected strenuously to House to House Visitation. As I regard this absolutely indispensable measure as
ispensable I issued the day before yesterday, after conferring with the permanent Committee of the Sanitary Board the annexed proclamation Encl. 1.
Yesterday I have been waited on by the Jung Wa Hospital Committee and other prominent Chinese Residents with a request
1. That House to House Visitation should at once be stopped,
2. That sick persons should be allowed to return to their own country,
3. That the sick on board the Hulk Hygeia should be removed to the new Hospital and Jung Wa
4. That all sick persons should be sent to the latter Institution.
