This scheme is to substitute steam launches for row boats, for the Water Police, thus saving about 60 men on the Police Establishment. The Estimated saving is $5000 a year, the initial outlay being also about $175000. It is recommended by the Retrenchment Committee. Approval is asked for by telegraph.
