to port

this

writing, which

I did. I received

a

Letter from

Mr. Chatham stating that

under the circumstances he

considered the best

WZ

ecessary.

On Saturday the 27th instant

I called

at the office of the

Public Works Department to see Mr. Tooker to ascertain when

the

Overseer would

weigh

the ballast which we put into the

cars for testing.

Mr Tooker not

being available

I saw Mr. Chatham who told

me that

I did not hear

before 12 o'clock.

The Overseer would

be at 7

on Monday morning

to see the ballast weighed

at the lower

terminus and

I went immediately

to the Office of the Public Works Department and

saw Mr. Tooker.

I asked him what he meant

by

the letter, as I would not understand it. He said that

the cars on

Monday

would not

be ready

as he had prior

engagements, and

he would not

be rushed).

I said I did not understand

what he meant by "he would not be pushed"

as this was the

day fixed by

himself when I

had the interview

with him

and

that the first test would take

place on

the 13th.

Tooker then said he had

no note of it. I told him I

had

put it

down in

my diary. She then said that

was only

against

another,

At 2.10 p.m. I received

a letter marked "A" at the lower

terminus
