There is great aversion to food, fluids & Ice being the only articles the patients will look at as a rule. In the early cases the buboes have never suppurated - enough time not elapsing between date of attack and date of death. Two cases lately Surgeon Pering has opened suppurating buboes.
The above figures may be subject to slight alteration after we have carefully looked over all our records. Haemorrhages from nose and mouth have been occasional - say in 5%. In a few cases petechiae have been noticed. No haematuria has been observed but sometimes slight albuminuria has been found.
Vomiting is a constant symptom, the vomit usually looking like a mixture of bile and altered blood. Boils have only been noticed once. Constipation is almost always marked - in a few later cases diarrhoea has been noticed.
As a rule the temperature keeps once or twice up till death when I have taken it after death I found it had risen higher. Death is sometimes extremely sudden. Sordes form in the mouth early in the disease.
