days made its appearance in Hongkong. "This terrible disease has been raging in Canton for the last 3 months and it is stated in this morning's newspaper that the mortality in that City has been from 200 to 500 a day.
Doubtless it has been introduced into Hongkong from Canton. This Colony has fortunately for several months past been suffering from excessive drought and consequently, a very limited water supply and it has been impossible owing to the filthy habits of the Chinese to keep the densely populated Districts of China Town in a satisfactory Sanitary condition. The number of cases up to 15th May has been about 130 and there have been very few cures.
