Mr. Ladds has not stated the profit and loss account of the Establishment for 1893 correctly. From the annexed statement (Encl: 2) furnished by the Treasurer, it will be seen that it shows a loss amounting to $258.

He has also omitted to mention that his knowledge of the process of producing lymph has, to a certain extent at least, been acquired at the cost of the Government, which in 1890 granted him, for that purpose, an extension of leave on full pay in Japan with an allowance on account of expenses.
