In answer to your letter of the 14th inst., I am directed by the Marquess of Ripon to state that as Mr. Mojendie's report has been sent to the Governor of Hongkong and has not yet reached his hands, he cannot communicate its contents to you, nor can he communicate the instructions which have accompanied it.
No doubt you will do your best in due course from your correspondents to learn what action has been taken by the Governor upon the receipt of these papers.
