I beg most respectfully to draw your attention to the fact that the "Ordinance of 1892" does not require the appointment of any Solicitor in Hong Kong, the papers having been most carefully prepared, I believe, exactly in accordance with the prescribed rules ("as far as practicable"). See Sec 2 (2). I respectfully submit that I ought not to desire the assistance of any local agent unless such be absolutely necessary.
You will note in my letter to the Colonial Secretary that I undertook to forward any further cost incurred in advertising in the Gazette and other papers that may be required; further, I beg to draw your attention most respectfully to this, I believe, important point, that it is certainly advisable that the Hong Kong Application be numbered and dated as of a date within 12 months of the actual granting of the British Patent.
In this case the British Patent was granted September 6th 1892 and in my letter to the Colonial Secretary I called his attention to this and respectfully begged that he would cause the Application to be filed before...
