I am directed by the Comptroller and Auditor General to acknowledge the receipt of Mr Fairfield's letter of the 2nd instant transmitting copies of two despatches from the Governor of Hong Kong dated respectively 27th March 1893 and 7th April 1893, and their enclosures, relating to the system of accounting for works Expenditure and to the Store accounts of that Colony.
A copy of the joint Report by the Director of Public Works and the Local Auditor forming the enclosure to the despatch of 27th March, had already been forwarded to this Department by Mr. Nicolle in a letter dated 22 March 1893, a copy of which is annexed.
