also communicate with the Government of the Straits
Settlements as to this arrangement.
But he will
of course understand that he should not commit the
Imperial or Colonial Governments in any way, as
the question of the currency systems of Hong Kong
and the Straits Settlements is now under considera-
tion.
You are authorized to issue instructions to
Mr Consul Krenan to the above effect.
