In answer to your letter the 24th inst: enclosing a letter from Mr S.W. Lucas late Apothecary and Analyst at Hongkong, in which he asserts claim to the payment of half salary on the voyage home, in accordance with the terms of his appointment,
I am directed by the Marquess of Ripon to state that it does not appear from the terms of his appointment why the payment differs. It is clear that Mr Lucas is entitled to the half salary which he claims.
