I have to report his appointment with effect from the 31st instant, and to forward for Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed copy of a report by the Superintendent relative to a proposed change in the nursing staff of the Hospital. Dr. Atkinson's recommendation, which has the approval of the Colonial Surgeon, is for the abolition of the post of Senior Wardmaster and the appointment of a trained nurse in his stead, which can now be given effect to.
I have therefore, subject to Your Lordship's approval, to request that the Crown Agents may be instructed to engage a nurse through the Matron of the London Hospital School for Trained Nurses on the terms contained in the enclosed statement of particulars, in duplicate, and to arrange for her early departure for this Colony. Application will hereafter be made whenever the post of Junior Wardmaster Elwin is vacant for another nurse.
Encl. I. 2nd December 1893.
