Colonial Secretary's Office.
Hong Kong, 21st April 1892.
With reference to my letter No. 496 of the 22nd ultimo, I am directed to inform you that it has been decided to abolish the appointment of Superintendent of the Water Police from this date, and to place the quarters now occupied by you at the disposal of the Captain Superintendent of Police.
In order that you may have ample time to provide yourself with other quarters, His Excellency is willing to allow you to continue to occupy the quarters at Tsim Tan Tsui for three months from this date, but at the expiration of that period you must hand them over to the Captain Superintendent of Police.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient servant,
(Signed) G. T. M. O'Brien,
Colonial Secretary.
Commander Hastings, R. N.
