It is out of the question to send the Agents' letters in our bag - which is done by letters in a bag and pay for the gross weight, but it appears that this arrangement was not known to the G.P.O. who, under the terms of the contract, ought to require this Steamship Company to provide room reasonably secure from damage.

This peril of the sea must be a very rare occurrence. The Sorting room no doubt opens on to the upper deck where the dockers are at work. The ship must have been fighting up the Great Monsoon which is very strong at Lions- against the wind.
