295
term with
Cluskein.
I was formerly in
the office of Messrs Wotton & Co; I resigned because I could not
get along with
Mr Wotton.
I have nothing to say against Mr. Wotton, a decent
fellow.
I produced my testimonial which I got from them
when I left which spoke very highly of me.
There is a Clerk & Interpreter who is an enemy of mine
who took a very prominent
part in that case last Friday,
sitting by the side of Mr. Ellis and
instructing him.
There was a
false statement
made by Mr. Ellis in
court to which I would particularly call
your attention.
I think the case
upon that statement
was decided ex-parte
and costs
awarded. I may
be wrong, Sir, in surmising such thing but I think that that is the point.
Mr Ellis
says on
Thursday
he had been
offered ... by the Plaintiff
and proposed a settlement by
paying half the claims and costs.
This is
an abominable lie.
Of course I don't blame Mr Ellis for saying so; he may have been instructed to
say so.
