The effect on the constitutions of some people is very trying, and as a rule those whom it tries at first do not become "acclimatized" to it. Its effect on me is to cause me constant rheumatic pains, difficulty in breathing, frequent colds, and occasional febrile attacks.
I have been confined to my bed three times this year by such attacks.
But these are minor ills. What is more important is that, although I am not frequently so ill as to be obliged to remain in bed, I am always weak, and that I am becoming more and more incapacitated for the discharge of
