I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch no. 164 of 16th Aug. last, & no. 173 of 30th August, regarding the proposed Retrenchment Committee. I regret that Colonial Government have not been able to come to an agreement with the Unofficial Members of the Leg(islative) Council as to the composition
