The objections to this course are as patent as those attending the immediately-preceding alternative; and it has the additional disadvantage of being anomalous.
anomalous. (5) To appoint a Committee, as suggested by Mr. Whitehead in his letter of 25th July, of the character and composition of that appointed "to look into the Treasury frauds." The Committee referred to consisted of three members viz.: the Puisne Judge, Mr. Thurburn, (a banker), and Mr. Bird, (one of the Auditors of the Hongkong and Shanghai Bank). It was admirably adapted for the purpose for which it was appointed.
