Extract from a letter from Captain Superintendent of Police
dated 2nd June, 1893.

"I have sufficient men with nautical Experience for the water Police, and I have therefore to recommend that seven Constables be recruited at home, in time to arrive in the colony before the end of the year, for service in the Land Force.
