Directors of the Hong-Kong Bank did not specifically express their views, but I gathered from desultory remarks made, that it would be desirable after due notice, to make an intimation which would reach the Chinese, that neither are "legal tender" in the Colony, and I may venture to point out that there is room for considerable loss to the public through the tacit admission to currency of these coins for the uniform value of which there is no guarantee whatever.
