Ching ha Tsun was promoted from Collector of Filiage Rates at $420 being to be First Shroff at $480 only.
Rise $60.
He was called on to contribute, I conceive, on the ground that the pay of the 1st Shroff had in 1875 been $288, from which it had risen to $420 (+ $60 ferinal allowance).
This case seems hard, in view of the small advantage gained; which is more than counterbalanced by the responsibility of the work and to find $10,000 security.
He desires to cease contributing.
