I have the honour to inform Your Lordship that I concur with the Harbour Master in considering it necessary to permanently retain the office of Assistant Marine Surveyor,
and I beg leave to recommend that Mr Macdonald, whose period on probation expired 17th ultimo, and who is favourably spoken of by the Harbour Master, be confirmed in the appointment at an annual salary of $2400.
