Dill for the Incorporation of to Socity to be introduced in the Legislative Council.

The Bill was read a first time on the 11th of April, 1892, but owing to certain information, as requested in your despatch No. 81 of the 6th of May last, which I take this opportunity of acknowledging.

The report and its Annexures were carefully considered in Executive Council and the Bill incorporating the Society was amended and a Committee was appointed to inquire fully into the working of the Society. The Committee occupied some time in taking evidence and preparing their report on the Society.

The Bill was re-introduced in an amended form on the 25th of May last. It passed through the 1st reading, and the 2nd reading with only about one division in which an Amendment moved by the Honourable T. H. Whitehead and seconded "pro forma" by the Colonial Secretary was rejected with but one dissenting vote.

I have the honour to forward copies for Your Lordship's information.
