I would stress that it is not stated in your despatch under acknowledgement how much of the balance still standing to the credit of the Praya Reclamation Fund consists of contributions from private sources and how much from the Govt. It would seem that whatever proportion belongs to the Govt may properly be devoted to the reduction of $109,971.71, for which the Govt is said to have been indebted to the Praya Fund, and in this manner the supposed deficit of $215,875.60 will be pro tanto reduced.
