Nevertheless he left barracks without leave after 9 p.m. the same night and went to the theatre.
He was reported to me the next morning for being in an intoxicated condition!
So it was clearly not made quite clear to him that he was under arrest and pending instructions.
I strongly recommend that he be at once dismissed.
It is not clear to me whether he was ignorant of the rule as to asking for leave after being under arrest.
In my view, he should be severely reprimanded for his offence.
I have to report that on his next offence of a similar nature, I shall recommend his dismissal.
I attended the drill today and at 3 pm, I had to drill recruits.
The Sergeant Major was fully drunk again.
I have placed him in confinement, as I fear I am obliged to give him a severe reprimand, although it does much harm.
