For Your Lordship's consideration the enclosed memorial from Mr F Freire, late Clerk in the Treasury, praying for an addition to the amount of the pension which has been awarded to him, together with a copy of report by the Colonial Treasurer, thereon.

I recommend Your Lordship to sanction a larger retiring allowance to Mr. Freire than that stated in despatch. His case was fully considered in Executive Council and especially with regard to the following points viz:- (1) whether any reduction in the amount of the pension assignable to him should be recommended on account of his remissness and the unsatisfactory character of his work in the audit Office
