With reference to Aberdeen which is a village of some importance with a considerable resident as well as boat population, it will be seen that at present there is only one school in existence and that is or will be in connection with the Church Mission.
Owing to the unhealthiness of the village, it has been found necessary during 1892 to close the Government school. The last 3 or 4 masters in charge of that establishment have all died within a few years of each other, and it is found impossible to get any Government schoolmaster to volunteer for such a fever-stricken locality. A private school has nevertheless just been opened, and I propose to aid it with a Government grant. Your Lordship is of course...
