Referring to the correspondence which passed between this office and the Chamber of Commerce in 1888 & 1889 regarding proposals for direct telegraphic communication with Singapore, I am directed by the Governor to transmit to you for the information of the Chamber a copy of a letter from the Agent, Eastern Extension Australasia and China Telegraph Company Limited on the subject of a proposal to connect by cable.
