trouble and annoyance of protracted correspondence, not to mention personal interviews, obliged if Your Lordship would move the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to bring to the notice of the Spanish Government the desirability of their representatives in this Colony adhering to treaty provisions in cases of this nature in the future. If on the other hand I should be informed that the course adopted by this Government is open to objection in any particular I shall be glad of Your Lordship's instructions on the subject.
