3. The Expenditure of the year amounted to $244,908.6 as compared with £1,915,350 in 1890 or an increase in 1891 of $533,736.
The original Estimates for 1891 showed a net saving of $54,067.
The Appropriation Ordinance for 1891, No. 28 of 1890, provided, however, only for expenditure, exclusive of Public Works Extraordinary, or a sum of $1,682,874. A further Appropriation Ordinance – No. 23 of 1891 – provided a sum of $631,009 for the Expenditure under Public Works Extraordinary. The total provision therefore was $2,313,883.
