sum into his hands and leave the Colony with it that any great harm could be done, and the regulations now in force seem to sufficiently guard against this.

Court Deposits

These consist principally of sums paid into Court in suits before the Court and of distraints. In the case of summary deposits and distraints the sums paid out in each case agree with the sums collected and the persons to whom the sums are due are careful to see that they are paid correctly and this in itself should be a sufficient check on the accounts.

In every case there is within an order of the Court or a Judgement and it would be easy in a test examination of these accounts to call for some of the audits.

Trusts

These are governed by Ordinances 7 of 1873 and 5 of 1885.

Section 5 of the former Ordinance lays down that such orders as shall seem fit shall be from time to time made by the Supreme Court in respect of Trust Estates and for the investment of any monies or of any dividends or interests, or any stocks, shares or securities and for the Transfer and delivery out of any such stocks, shares, or securities and for the administration of trusts generally.

Clause 6 lays down that there shall be imposed and levied for the use of the Crown upon all trust Estates administered under the Ordinance ...
