exercise by the Supreme Court. Section 9 gives the Registrar certain powers in causes testamentary if he is a jointer under seal of the Court. Section 39 vests the personal estate and effects of all persons dying intestate until letters of administration shall be granted in the Registrar of the Supreme Court.

Section 43 says that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court shall, with the concurrence of the Legislative Council, as soon as conveniently may after the passing of the Ordinance, fix a table of fees to be taken by the officers of the Court in its Probate Administration. Section 45 says that when letters of administration have been granted by the Court to the Official Administrator, he shall within one month after receiving any money belonging to any estate to the amount of $100 clear of all just allowances and deductions, pay the sums into the hands of the Colonial Treasurer to the credit of the estate, unless the Chief Justice upon a written statement of facts shall report it will be more expedient for the said estate to be otherwise sold or disposed of. The Official Administrator, wherever he shall have occasion to draw a sum of money, shall apply by petition to the Chief Justice for an order for payment, and the Treasurer shall pay out no money without such an order.

Section 1 of Ordinance 9 of 1870 makes the Registrar of the Supreme Court ex officio Official Administrator.
