The firm of E. Shoda Pilsen (Bohemia) recently forwarded 1 case rifles and 4 cases cartridges, marked (1550/54) to Trieste for shipment per Austrian Lloyd Steamer to the order of Messrs Arnhold, Karberg & Co. Shanghai. The Lloyd Company however say that they cannot take these cases on board their steamer's without a special permit from your Office, as on the journey to China they touch at Aden, Bombay, Colombo, Penang, Singapore and Hongkong.
I should therefore feel much obliged if you would be so good as to favour me with the permit required for the due transit through the above mentioned 5 cases.
