Hou: Colonial Secretary,
Mail Steamers have no special privelege in regard
to Sunday labour unless landing mails &c. can be considered as such. The only other exception made in their favour is that they are not required to "enter and "clear"
and pay
they
their "light ques" monthly instead of each voyage -these
exemptions are not made by law, they are custom only.
The status of men-of-war to French anu German
mail steamers lapsed some time ago, the ordinance was not
re-enacted in 1890.
