If the deceased had no meuical attendance the
certificate should be something like for... B.

This is the course of procedure in Englanu but I think in these cases when the enquiry is made that in the City districts the Sanitary Officer of the district and his
interpreter should be present when the enquiry into the
cause of death was made. In the outstations the Police offi-
cer of the district or his representative with an interpre- ter should be present, this precaution I gean necessary to prevent any attempt at squeezing.
This is the principal quty for which they are
required, the secondary duties would be to attend at the ais
pensaries at the regulation hours supply the poorer class
with medicies and advice and attenu suon of the poor who
require advice at their own houses in his district on appli
cation, not otherwise,

If those who are well to uo require his auvice
they should pay for it, he giving a prescription to be Jade
up at their own cost at one of the chemists. The scale of
pay has been arranged on the condition of private practice
being allowed these officers as in any case it could not be
prevented in their districts.
