§ Nor to bis agents.
samo time a copy to the Colonial Secretary. Two days after this, ou the 13th August, notice of resumption was served upon Mr. Sharp.
Say Gnew Moon and Tong Sing Yu had received on the 17th June 40 cents $ per foot or $2,040 for their ground, portion of Inland Lot No. 672, upon the assurance that Mr. Sharp and Mr. Chater had both accepted the same, when no communication whatever was made to Mr. Sharp upon the subject until nearly two mouths afterwards, when he received, as above mentioned, formal notice of resumption. So much for the precedent and proof of value afforded by the case of Inland Lot No. 672,
With regard to the portion of Inland Lot No. 670 resumed, the circumstances and character of this lot are most essentially different from those of Inland Lot No. 671, and it will be seen that the acceptance by Mr. Chater of 40 cents $ per square foot for the portion resumed is no criterion at all of the value of a portion of Iuland Lot No. 671*
Upon the occasion of enlarging the Government slaughter house which bounds Inland Lot No. 670 to the West an encroachment of five and a half feet was made upon the lot, and a claim was put forward by the then owner, Mr. M. J. d'Aquino, upon the Government for compensation. He did not however succeed in recovering anything, and on the 16th November, 1575, sold the lot to Mr. Edmund Sharp, upon the condition, intor alia, that if anything was recovered from the Government for the ground appropriated by them the same should belong to the purchaser.
In 1878 Mr. Edmund Sharp was called upon by the Government to surrender his Crown Lease, and on 23rd February a new lease was issued to him for an area of 18,100 in place of 22,500 square feet, or a reduction of 4,400 feet, the boundaries and measurements being modified as below.
