We beg to enclose for the information of the Government copy correspondence which has passed between Col. STORER, Commanding Royal Engineers, and ourselves upon the subject of the occupation by the War Department of the Public Road bounding Inland Lot No. 674 to the South.

In the name of our Principals we beg to protest against the same as a most serious injury to the value of this property.

With reference to my letter to you of the 16th instant and your reply of the 17th instant, I am very much surprised to hear that you (apparently without adopting my suggestion that you should represent to the Colonial Government any claim you might consider you had to a road at the back of Lot 674) removed a portion of the retaining wall, so as to make a communication between the above Lot and the War Department property.

The removal of this portion of wall has caused some of the War Department Land above to fall in, and if not speedily rectified will do further damage, I have therefore to request that you will at once
