Enclosure 5.

!

Hon: Colonial Secretary,

I saw His Excellency yesterday by appointment.

I an of opinion that the resumption of Marine Lot 20 & 21 for

the purpose

of carrying out the proposed scheme would be

in the interests of the public.

The straightening widening of the Queen's Road

}

and thus doing away with the sharp bend opposite these lots

would undoubtedly be to the public advantage and as the

carrying out of thes alteration is conditional on the

adoption of the scheme of general improvement in its entirety,it would appear necessary to resume the whole of

Lots 20 & 21 for this purpose.

the

Hong-kong, 8th August, 1891.

(Sga) S. Brown,

Surveyor General.
