allowance should be discontinued, being

I have also allowed the Superintendent
of the Botanical nepartment to retain
the personal allowance of $360 in ac-
cordance with para. 14 of my Despatch
No.71 of 3rd April last.

Instructions will begiven
The necessary instructions will be given to the Crown Agents to adjust the
salaries of Mr. peane and Major Gordon
while they are on leave in accordance
with the above derision, and I have
to request you to communicate to the Crown Agents the amount which should
be refunded to those officers in res-
pect of the salary paid to them in the
Colony between 1st January last and
the dates to which they were paid be-
fore coming on leave.
