AGREEMENT made the
between the Governor of Hong Kong of one part and Richard Frederick Drury of Hong Kong (hereinafter called the person
engaged) of the other part. Whereas the person engaged
has been employed by the Public Works Department in the Colony of Hong Kong as Assistant Engineer from the 1st day
of January 1890 and whereas it is desirable that this Agree -
ment of service should be entered into now this Agreement
witnesseth as follows:-
1. The said Richard Frederick Drury shall serve
the Public Works Department as an Assistant Engineer.
2. The period of service of the person engaged
shall be for Three years commencing from the 1st day of
January 1890 and the person engared shall be under the or-
ders of the Surveyor Generalof the Colony.
3. The salary to be paid to the person engaged
shall be at the rate of Two thousand and four hundred dol-
lars ($2,400) per annum with a chair allowance of Twenty-
four dollars ($24) per month.
4. The Government shall have power at any time
to terminate this Agreement upon giving to the person an-
gaged three months' notice in writing or paying him a sum
equal to three months' salary in lieu of such notice.
5. On the expiration of his term of engagement
or if the Agreement shall be terminated by the Government
under the preceding clause the Government shall provide the
