THE BELILIOS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS.
The Trustees of the Belilios Scholarship Fund No. 1 (Hon. N. G. Mitchell-Innes, Hon. P. Ryrie, and Dr. Eitel) yesterday established two new medical scholarships in connection with the College of Medicine. These scholarships, of the value of $100 per annum, have been awarded respectively to Kwan King-laung and Tang King-fai, former scholars of Victoria College.
Under the same Trustees there are at present four Belilios scholars (Tsang Chung-li, Wong Plug-in, Fang Ki-cheuk, and Lo Man-kai) studying at Victoria College, and two Belilios scholars (A. Silva and J. A. M. de Jesus) at St. Joseph's College. The value of each of these six scholarships is $60 per annum for two years.
The Trustees of Belilios Fund No. 2 (Mr. J. J. Francis, Q.C., and Dr. Eitel) yesterday privately distributed the following awards made on the basis of the Belilios examination held in December last:-
Diocesan School -- First prize, silver medal and $35, Southey; fifth prize, $15, H. Cock.
St. Joseph's College -- Second prize, $20, G. A. Ivanovich; fourth prize, $15, A. G. Gomes.
Hongkong Public School -- Third prize, $20, H. Hayward.
Victoria English School -- First prize, silver medal and $25, Miss Mozelle Joseph; second prize, $15, Miss L. Tennant; third prize, $10, Miss A. Smith.
Victoria Home and Orphanage School -- First prize, silver medal and $25, Miss Wong A-lin; second prize, $15, Miss Ng Wai; third prize, $10, Miss Tong Tsz-tsin.
Basel Mission Girls School -- Fourth prize, $10, Miss Ho Kwan-ying.
Yesterday Mr. Belilios established another Trust Fund, under the trusteeship of the Hon. N. G. Mitchell-Innes, Hon. P. Ryrie, and Dr. Eitel, for the purpose of promoting medical studies and the training of school teachers, and to give school materials or prizes to deserving schools or scholars.
