I have the honour to report for the information of His Excellency the Governor that Inspector Cradock attempted at 7 p.m. yesterday to arrest at you Ma Tau Wai Lane a man who was deported on the 8th May 1876. The man drew two knives and very severely cut the Inspector's right hand.

Mr Cradock was taken on board the "Victor Emanuel" and the wound dressed by Staff Surgeon Fennell, R.N., who kept him on board during the night and this morning superintended his removal...
